Wizard World Chicago: The Chin is In
(Full panel below)
I blame my brother. He’s the one at fault for my addiction. He’s the one who had me sit down and watch the Evil Dead Trilogy at the age of 16. This subsequently fueled my desire to absorb as many movies as possible, and escape in to their fantasy worlds that they bring to life on the big screen. What is awesome about Bruce Campbell is that he has transcended his roles and his name inspires awe amongst his fans.
As soon as he entered Room A and walked up on the stage you knew from the standing ovation that this was the Cult of Campbell. The best/worst thing about his panel was that getting a straight answer, if even an answer at all, was difficult. On the flipside this led for some awesome Bruce-ism’s. The panel consisted of us watching our favorite actor, be just as entertaining as we hoped he would be in person. We don’t mind that he hates questions and answers back snarky, part of our love for this epic man is for his ability to be open, honest, brash, and ultimately just plain freaking awesome. He made sure to inform us that, Yes there will be an Evil Dead remake, there is a script with him possible having no cameo at all. The panel also contained a Evil Dead tattoo contest featuring some incredibly devoted fans.
Easily the highlight of the panel was the marriage proposal that he helped facilitate. It was incredible, I don’t even know how many people realized what was going on until the guy dropped down on one knee. Instantly the room exploded into cheering and clapping, Bruce was dancing in glee up on stage, the girl said yes through sobs of joy. It was a very exciting, magical, and memorable event. Definitely a highlight of the weekend. All in all, I spent 1 1/2 hours waiting to spend 45 min in the same room as the man who I would follow to hell, or even back in time to fight off the undead force in the woods.
