Wizard World Chicago: Torchwood Panel
(Full panel below)
Walking in about 10 minutes late to the Torchwood panel, I am greeted with Kai Owen and Gareth David-Lloyd calling out wondering where the beer was that they requested. This sounded exactly like exactly where I wanted to be. To be honest, Torchwood is something I haven't watched yet. It is on my must watch tv list, right after Doctor Who. Just not enough time in the day to keep up with everything.
As soon as I sat down and watched these two banter back and forth I was hooked on just about anything they were selling. For the most part they really didn't talk much about the new season, just a few little tidbits and teasers. I do remember them talking about Gareth's progessive metal band, Blue Gillespie, and their upcoming second album that should be finished by the end of the year. Kai Owen made sure to let us know that we shall be seeing a lot more of Rhys in the upcoming season.
When the beer finally arrived they made sure to cheer and show the messengers their appreciation with hugs and kisses. Those Welsh really do love their beer. One of the Q&A's even made sure to promote a local Chicago beer, 3-1-2, for the two of them to try. Another one of the Q's was a request for the two cast members to speak Welsh to her......fetish anyone?
Gareth and Kai both seemed to agree that with Torchwood moving to a more prime spot on America's busy tv schedule, that their show has changed from having that very Welsh feeling to being very un-Welsh as one questionaire mention. They both seem to be just as pleased with the current feel as the with the previous style. They even enjoy living in America and even think that a permanent move would not be a terrible thing. In the videos below there are more intimate stories and laughs galore. Find out about their favorite behind the scenes moments, some mentions about Warehouse 13, and their favorite beers. Definitely a panel that was full of laughs, that felt very genuine, and makes me just that more excited to catch up on my must watch list.

I was the beer delivery girl and I have been searching for a picture of Gareth and I! That was so much fun. I came over from Iowa City for the sole purpose of meeting/hearing Kai and Gareth and it was worth the trip and the $. How much do I love those two? I passed up Felicia Day, James Marsters AND Patrick Stewart for them! Definitely watch Torchwood. It’s very fun and Welsh (I lived in Wales during college) and a little naughty, and can swing between campy and really dark within the same episode.
Thanks for sharing these clips. It sounds like the panel was really fun to attend. Please do add Torchwood to your viewing list! (I have to admit that I stopped watching after the 3rd season, though.)
