What To Do At Wizard World Chicago On Friday

Well it is finally upon us the first official day of the 2011 Chicago Wizard World Comic Con. Besides being held in an area large enough for a couple of football fields the Convention Center also has 3 separate rooms with special programming each day. So if your looking to try to get up close and personal and maybe ask a few questions here are some of the sessions we would recommend checking out this Friday.

BROWNCOATS: REDEMPTION Screening
From 1-3pm there is a special screening of the independent film BROWNCOATS: REDEMPTION. Set three months after the events of the Universal Studios film, Serenity, Captain Laura Matthews and the crew of Redemption are unintentionally thrown into a situation that some view as the potential catalyst for the second unified rise of the Independents against the Alliance since Unification Day. The movie features guest appearances by some of the original cast of Firefly, including Adam Baldwin!

DOCTOR WHO: FROM TOTTER'S LANE TO DEMON'S RUN - ADVENTURES IN TIME, IN SPACE
From 3-3:45pm in Room C you can hang out and discuss the longest running science fiction series with fellow Doctor Fans. Explore both the classic and new series. It's a panel about everything Doctor Who!

TORCHWOOD Q&A WITH KAI OWEN AND GARETH DAVID-LLOYD
From 4-4:45pm in Room A, Kai Owen (Rhys Williams) and Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto Jones) from the British sci-fi hit “Torchwood” will be hosting a panel. Be sure to ask Gareth David-Lloyd how he liked being on "Warehouse 13" as a Warehouse 12 agent.

Buffy Fest
From 5-6:45pm in Room A Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris), and the ladies known as Harmony and Glory on the hit TV show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” will sit and discuss the pop culture phenomenon that was and is Buffy plus discuss went on behind the scenes on the hit show by Josh Whedon.

Starting at 7pm you really have a decision to make. Either go see Felicia Day as she discuses her highly anticipated upcoming feature film, Rock Jocks, or head over to the Wizard World Red Carpet VIP Party.

Felicia Day's panel takes place Room B and includes Writer/Director Paul Seetachitt, Production Designer/Executive Producer Greg Aronowitz, Producer Sheri Bryant and Executive Producer John Byrnes. Expect to see a sneak preview of the film’s trailer along with exclusive behind-the-scenes film clips, as well as an audience Q&A discussion.

The Wizard World Red Carpet VIP Party takes place at the Doubletree O’Hare and is only open to VIP Ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased at the show and run $250. Here you can mix and mingle with Chicago Comic Con celebrities, plus get the first look at a unique million dollar collection of rare comics to be displayed publicly for the first time ever!

WIZARD WORLD CHICAGO DRINK AND DRAW - HOSTED BY TOMMY CASTILLO
Come hang out at the Aloft Hotel Lounge from 8-11pm and grab a few drinks with some of the featured artists. The event is hosted by Tommy Castillo and is sure to be a great time to mingle and maybe get or see a great drawing.

As you can see besides a full show floor their is tons of other things just waiting to explore. Be sure to grab your self a list of the full programming list over here and mark out what you want to see.

Remember that the panel are free with your paid admission but most have a VIP ticket price which guarantees entrance before a regular Con Attendee. So if you just have to see a certain star you might want to see if a VIP deal is available as all are worth the steeper price as they include some additional swag and autographs from that celebrity.
