AT&T offers 1,000 free rollover minutes to some iPhone customers

With the recent release of the Verizon iPhone AT&T is offering 1,000 free rollover minutes to some iPhone customers to try to keep them on the AT&T network. But apparently not everyone got the message.

TextMinutesThe past few days there have been reports that even if you hadn’t received the original text you can still reply and get a confirmation about the offer.

The only catch so far that I can tell is the need to send a text message. To get the free minutes: simply text “yes” (or “Yes” or “YES”) to 11113020. Within seconds, barring you being unexpectedly ineligible for the deal, you’ll get a text back that says:

Thank you. Your Rollover minutes will be added to your account within 4 weeks, subject to verifying your account eligibility. Limit 1 credit per account.

There’s one potentially scary point of this is the possibility that AT&T is looking to get people locked in for an additional two years without telling them. But reports on the web say that simply texting “yes” to that number wouldn’t count as a contract and it would be totally unenforceable.

110217-103459Just to see what happens I sent a text to AT&T as I am a current customer but have an HTC Aria Android phone to see what would happen. I got the same response as others so I believe that AT&T is doing some checking on their end to make sure you have an iPhone first before giving the extra 1000 minutes for free. If they do appear on my account I will definitely let you know.

If your looking for some free minutes from AT&T then be sure to check it out and see if your eligible.
